I just read your painting article in Art in America. Loved. Found Biala on your site but where is the 2006 response you allude to above? I would like to read it, if available. I like Biala's paintings obviously.

I am delighted that you are covering Llynn Foulke's work. "The Last Frontier" is a particularly rich piece materially in a way that is not immediately evident in a reproduction.

New work will be on view at Kent Fine Art (210 Eleventh Avenue) opening tonight, October 27th, 2011.

Dear Raphael,
Just came upon your astonishing Silo site. Great to see both Adami & Llyn Foulkes discussed. I’ve always loved Adami’s work & while not exactly mystified by how little interest he’s had in the states, I’ve always thought he’s should be much better known. I taught briefly with Foulkes at UCLA in the early seventies. Kitaj was there too. Foulkes never spoke. He was making those early photo-realist mountain paintings at the time that had very little interest for me. Who knew he was to go on to make these amazing constructed painting/objects that took him almost as long to make as a Myron Stout.

Best,
Mark

Raphael, great to discover your site and thanks for this piece. Sadly I believe that the younger generation of Mexican artists is also forgetting Galan, both because of the relative scarcity of work and because of their disavowal of the so called neo Mexicanist movement of the '80s/early 90s. An even harsher fate was met by Nahum Zenil, whose values have plummeted, as a result of certain critical forces in that country.

The show has been removed from the gallery calendar. No explanation. Unfortunate. Visited his studio at Agricola Cornelia ten or so years ago. Would very much like to see what he's doing now.
